World Mental Health Day 2020

World Mental Health Day takes place on 10 October. This year’s theme is ‘mental health for all.’

At Dollar Academy, mental health is at the centre of our wellbeing agenda. Throughout the year, we ensure there are many opportunities to discuss and promote positive mental health. This week, to raise awareness of World Mental Health Day we are sharing a different wellbeing tip each day for pupils and staff. These tips have included ‘open up and chat to someone you trust’, as research shows that talking is good for one’s mental health, and it is important for everyone to have the opportunity to share how they are feeling.

Breathing Space, a drop-in club, will be open in P23 every lunchtime this week for pupils to have a chat with a Mental Health Ambassador, or just take some time out of their day to be calm and quiet. Our Ambassadors are all wearing green ribbon badges so they are identifiable around campus and are available to chat to all pupils from across the school.

The new Mental Health Pilot run by the Nursing centre on a Monday is also an excellent opportunity to share any worries you may have about your mental health.
