World Book Day at Dollar

Last Thursday (March 3rd) was World Book Day, and throughout last week pupils and staff got involved in various activities to celebrate.

World Book Day celebrations started last Monday and Wednesday with an exciting visit from the award-winning author, illustrator and cartoonist, John Fardell.

He gave Forms I and II a fascinating insight into how he creates his colourful stories and characters. The pupils had the opportunity, under the guidance of John, to come up with their own ideas and drawings for a story.

On Thursday, World Book Day, the highly acclaimed author, Liz MacWhirter, gave talks in Senior School assembly and in Forms I and II lessons about her experience as a reader, writer and academic.

Lunchtime saw a packed library for our Big Book Swap event. It was the perfect opportunity for staff and pupils to donate any unwanted books and to find their next favourite read. Everyone seemed delighted with their new literary discoveries.
