Toledo Exchange Trip

FI and FII Spanish pupils had a wonderful time on their recent exchange trip to Toledo. Harry (Form II) summarises their visit in the article, below:

This was the first exchange trip to Toledo to take place since Covid. The trip gave us all the chance to experience the Spanish way of life as we were paired up with our Spanish student partners who hosted us in their homes. We got to see the way a family lives in Spain as they shared with us their customs and foods. We all had lots of delicious typical Spanish meals such as paella, Spanish omelette and everybody’s favourite Cola-Cao, which is a milk drink with chocolate drank mainly in the morning.

Our partners also showed us their school and we got to participate in some of their lessons where we were welcomed with the Flower of Scotland.

Toledo is the former capital of Spain and we learned all about its rich history which reflected the influences of the Arab, Jewish and Christian legacies. We were guided around the streets savouring the architecture and culture of the place. We visited the Tránsito Synagogue and the San Román Church amongst other places.

We also had the chance to visit Madrid and the Queen Sofia Museum where we were fascinated by the size and importance of the Guernica within the context of Spanish history.

All of the pupils on the exchange made lots of new friends.
