Self Employed Visiting Bass Guitar Teacher - From April 2019

A self-employed bass guitar tutor position (one half day a week with the potential to develop to a full day) becomes vacant from April 2019. Dollar’s Music Department has a reputation for nourishing musical talent and has become synonymous with opportunity and excellence. The successful candidate will be a talented and imaginative bass guitar teacher.

Dollar Academy is situated at the foot of the Ochil Hills in the picturesque country town of Dollar within easy reach of Scotland’s major cities:  only 20 minutes by car from Stirling, 30 minutes from Perth and less than an hour from the cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh.

About the post

A self-employed bass guitar tutor is required to teach pupils from beginner level to post Grade 8. The department enjoys an excellent reputation for the quality and diversity of music created through five choirs, four orchestras, three jazz orchestras, chamber and traditional music groups, and Junior and Senior stage musicals. Curriculum music is taught by six specialist staff. There are eighteen visiting instrumental teachers, a Music Technician and a part-time Music Administrator. Guidelines for Visiting Music staff are detailed below. Visiting music staff are self-employed instructors and, as such, they deal directly with parents, with whom they have a contract. They pay a small facility fee for the hire of their teaching room, bill parents directly, and are responsible for correctly accounting for tax and national insurance contributions to HMRC.

The Music Department will provide support in a variety of ways, including annual review lessons.

The following will be advantageous: ability to teach Double Bass in addition.
