Record-breaking SQA Results at Dollar Academy
Dollar Academy pupils are celebrating another year of outstanding SQA examination results.
Pupils in Form VI attained a remarkable pass rate of 96% at Advanced Higher, with 63% of these at A grade. This is an increase in the A-grade rate of 8% compared with last year and is a school record by a comfortable margin. The SQA Advanced Higher qualification is highly regarded internationally, with an A-grade equivalent to an A* grade at A-level. Given that Dollar pupils take most of their Advanced Highers in core subjects, this is an exceptional achievement. The Rector, David Knapman, was pleased to note that the proportion gaining places at their first-choice university was exceptionally high and commented:
“Such excellent results are not easy to obtain, but both teachers and pupils can be pleased with these successes. No school is perfect, and we will continue to seek to improve, but I would like to think that a caring and supportive environment goes a long way to help ensure that children can give their best at Dollar.”
In Form V, the pass rate at Higher was 95% with 63% of passes at grade A with an excellent 43 pupils gaining at least 5 A-grades, the second-highest figure on record. New records were set by Form IV at National 5, with a pass rate of 97% and with 77% of passes at A-grade. The record A-grade rate at National 5 was up 4% on the excellent figures achieved in 2017 and 2016, a significant development.
Senior staff are in school this week to discuss exam results and any questions that may have arisen.
