Dollar Team Retain First Aid Nationals Title

A cadet team of Sgt Nicola Henson (Form VI), Sgt Katie Robertson, Cpl Beth Logan (both Form V) and Cpl Clara McHardy (Form IV) travelled to Northampton over the weekend of 7 - 8 October to compete in the prestigious First Aid Nationals 2017.

The Dollar cadets celebrating their winOn the first day, the team had to deal with fractures, asthma, angina, and sprains in their individual tests, followed by a road incident involving a broken arm, multiple head injuries and a spinal injury in the team test.  

On the second and final day of the competition, the intensity of the tests increased. The individual scenarios included a heart attack, hypo glycaemia, a seizure and a severe arterial bleed. The final team test brought an open fracture with severe bleeding, a broken arm, grazed jaw and a victim in severe shock.

Then, after a long wait, and for the second year in a row, the Dollar team were crowned first place, making them the best cadet first aid team in the UK once again. Congratulations to the team and to Tracy Scott who has worked so hard in preparing the cadets for this national competition.
