Record-breaking SQA Higher Results at Dollar Academy

Dollar Academy pupils are celebrating another year of outstanding SQA examination results. Highers in Form V are perhaps the gold standard for university entrance in Scotland and this year’s cohort set new records by a substantial margin, with an astonishing 55 pupils scoring 5 A-grades or better – almost exactly a third of the year group.

Almost 800 Highers were taken by over 160 Form V pupils with a 98% pass rate. A record 68% of the passes were at grade A or better, up 4% on last year.

The pass rate at Advanced Higher was 97%, with an excellent 55% of passes being at grade A, the second-highest in the school’s history. The A/B proportion of passes was a very impressive 82%. The ambition of Dollar pupils is evident from the fact that over 290 Advanced Higher examinations were taken in total, helping pupils to access top universities in Scotland and beyond.

Pupils in Form IV sitting National 5 examinations matched almost exactly the exceptional results of last year with a pass rate of 98%, with 74% of these at grade A.

Senior staff are in school this week advising pupils on their options. The Rector of Dollar Academy, David Knapman, commented, “I am delighted that a combination of hard work by pupils and teachers and positive support from parents has helped produce such excellent results. Dollar pupils are encouraged to excel in all that they do, both in and out of the classroom.”
