Tennis is our main summer term sport at Dollar and we aim to encourage our pupils, both boys and girls, to play and enjoy the game of tennis, to have fun, and to do their best.
The tennis season at Dollar Academy runs from mid April to the end of June, although many of our players continue to play throughout the year at clubs across the region. We have nine courts on the school astroturf, which of course become the hockey pitch for the rest of the season, and three courts on the harder surface near the Prep school. Our excellent facilities and team of permanent coaching staff are further strengthened by visiting coaches such as Wimbledon Mum and Scottish Tennis Coach Judy Murray, and Adam Brown, Central Scotland Performance Coach.
Pupils in every age group receive tennis lessons as part of their Physical Education, but they also have the opportinity to join our Tennis Club and attend after-school training and lunchtime paractices, and to represent the school in fixtures and competitions. The Tennis Club is open to pupils of all abilities, from beginners all the way through to the large number of pupils who play at regional and national level, and who attend performance squads and play in representative matches and competitions.
