Our Ski Club offers a wide range of activities, including lessons for complete novices and regular practice sessions at Firpark Ski Slope in Tillicoultry, as well as practice sessions at Midlothian Ski Centre (Hillend), Edinburgh. We also run occasional trips to the indoor snow slope at Xscape, Glasgow. There is also, of course, the highly popular week-long biennial Ski Tour to the French Alps over Easter, which has been attended in the past by over 110 senior school pupils.
The Ski Club is on offer to pupils from Prep 4 to Form VI during the autumn and spring terms.
Blocks throughout Term 1 and 2 on Wednesday’s 3:20pm-5:20pm
Junior 1 – Form VI:
Monday 3:40pm – 5:20pm
Costs are usually in the region of £8 for an hour on the slope.
This is an excellent competitive activity open to Senior School pupils who are very good skiers and who already race train, on mat or on snow. Ski racing is an individual sport, but the school championships – seniors and minors – gives young racers the opportunity to compete in a team for the school. Training takes place during the autumn and spring terms at the Midlothian Ski Centre and the Lecht Ski Centre.
There may also be opportunities throughout the year for Prep and Junior pupils who are already involved in race training to represent the school in local and national competitions. Details will be made available to all interested ski racers when such occasions arise.
Occasional weekday and weekend racing. Travel and accommodation costs might apply.
