Book Club

The six book clubs in the school cover a wide range of ages and interests.  The visiting author programme brings in further inspiration, as does our beautiful library.

Prep 5 Bookclub

This activity gives pupils in Prep 5 a chance to read books that they might perhaps not choose themselves.  The club also enjoys dramatisation of scenes, colouring in, quizzes, visiting authors and bookstore trips.

Wednesday, 12:40pm – 1:20pm, Y15

Bookclub – Junior 1 & 2

This club, open to all pupils in nullthe Junior School, will meet approximately once a month to chat and discuss ideas and thoughts about a range of different books. Members of the group choose the books so everyone has the chance to explore new titles and discover new authors.

Thursday, 3:30pm – 4:30pm

Bookclub – Forms I and II

Pupils from Forms I and II who adore ‘Artemis Fowl’ and are hungry for the next big title will love the Junior Book Club. This pupil-led group meets once a month to choose their own ‘book of the month’ and discuss what they liked, hated or were puzzled by in the previous month’s choice. The group often engages in informal discussions, spontaneous book reviews and heated debates.

Last Wednesday of the month 12:40pm – 1:20pm, P22

Bookclub – Forms III and IV

New books, old crumpled favourites, tales to take you back to the past, books to keep you laughing, stories to inspire . . .  ”There is more treasure in books,” said Walt Disney, “than in all the pirates’ loot on Treasure Island.” The Book Club is an opportunity for anyone in Forms III and IV to come and share their ideas on books they are reading.  Pupils choose their own books from classics to contemporary fiction, poetry, science and other non-fiction, myths and short stories. New members are always welcome.

Tuesday, once a month, 12:45pm – 1:15pm, Y2

Bookclub – Senior Boarders

Intellectual conversation abounds at this book group for our boarding pupils, where shared titles are selected and dissected on a monthly basis.

Senior Book Club

This club is open to all pupils in Forms V and VI who enjoy reading and discussing ideas with others.  Led by pupils, the group picks one book a month and then meets for an informal discussion that often leads to a lively debate. We benefit from a wide range of interests and past titles including anything from the classics to best sellers, short stories to non-fiction.

First Wednesday of each month, 12:40pm – 1:20pm, P22
