Teaching and Learning

Working within the framework of the Curriculum for Excellence we provide a broad based curriculum designed to enable children to learn and to make progress at an appropriate pace through their primary years. Primary teachers co-operate closely with Senior School colleagues to deliver a well-balanced and stimulating curriculum which includes the very best specialist skills teaching in a variety of subjects.

Continuous assessment, achieved through a variety of means including observation, reflection and testing, ensures that each child's progress is closely monitored.  This understanding is shared with parents formally in twice yearly Parents' Consulations and written reports in December and mid June, and informally through our commitment to an 'open doors' policy.

When the need arises, our Support for Learning department provides additional support which can range from advice to colleagues, in-class support, team teaching, small group tuition and tailor made individual programmes.  Regular contact is maintained with parents and special care taken to ensure continuity of support during key transitional phases.
